Our Nutrition Week Activities

Friday, July 30, 2010

The Grade 1 Maya kids decided to make a snack that has all the three food groups in it: TACOS! It was a week’s worth of preparation before we actually made the tacos.

Monday: Class votation (it was a tough choice between tacos and spaghetti)

Tuesday: We made a recipe poster complete with drawings of materials and procedure. The children thought of naming our recipe Special Yum Tacos

Wednesday: The children worked in pairs to sort the ingredients of tacos (minatamis na saging and pizza) into Go, Grow and Glow foods.

Thursday: Cards for Chef Je were made by the kids as a homework. Each Maya proudly showed his/her card project to class.

Friday: The Maya kids made grated the cheese, sliced the tomatoes and lettuce and mixed the beef. Ta-da! Special Yum Tacos!

About Me

I am Paula Garcia and Teacher Papol is just one of the many nicknames I got from the children I’ve worked with through the years. I am currently a First Grade teacher during the day and an MA Psychology student at night.

I like writing during my free time--as a way of destressing and keeping track of the things that go on in my life.

My goal is to share my experiences and ideas about activities, dealing with children and families, resources, etcetera to help my fellow teachers in their journey of touching lives.
